This is a picture of the painting " Sunset on West Lake Winona " that was stolen in the spring of 2010 . I just wanted to repost it to let everyone know . I HOPE it is out there SOMEWHERE! Alive and well ; ) . This is about the third painting I have had stolen over the years, no, the fourth! Don't know whether to be flattered or ANGRY! I HAVE given it to the Lord. I am praying that it is the LAST one that will be stolen.

I still have money to go shopping for our men and women serving overseas. I am concentrating on Afghanistan and remote areas where they really appreciate warm clothing. If anyone reading this has someone over there and has a suggestion or address to share please let me know by email msingart@hbci.com.

Cartooning
Today I started a Artist in Residence her in the Winona area teaching cartooning basics to 3rd and 4th graders. It is such fun to teach and they are so OPEN at this age to learning. They soon find out they do not have to know how to 'draw' to learn cartooning. The kids learn something about writing, communicating and ar often surprised at how well their finished 'cartoon' looks. They develop their own characters and learn a lot about writing in the process. I will share some of the finished products if I get permission.

People portraits
Formal portraits by
Mary Singer
This is a wedding portrait done from
the photos.I am able to make minor
changes that really bring life to the canvas.
Here I have put the subject together
with her favorite pastime.
Both of these portraits are oil on canvas.
Summer is captured here in pastels. A beautiful child her innocence shines through .
A formal wedding portrait I chose background colors that would truly compliment this bride.
I was asked to do this one in pencil and I absolutely loved doing it . Pencil is the first medium I did portraiture in .
There is some glare on the canvas but I worked from photos and again used background colors that would compliment the subject.
This is a colored pencil portrait on museum quality paper.
It was done for a woman who looks much like her ancestor whose picture of course was in black and white.
Below is an acrylic painting done on a watercolor canvas of Chief Sitting Bull. One of my favorite historical figures.
If you are interested in having a formal portrait done just go to my web site, email or call me for a price sheet.
